You are responsible for your prey

In preying upon something, it seems to me that we become responsible for the things we prey upon.

If I fish a salmon and eat it, I become responsible for the survival of salmons.

In preying upon the world, humanity has become responsible for the survival of the world.

This, most of all, is the idea behind green thought. A sense of responsibility for something far larger than the little meat capsules we call our bodies.

The ouroboros is real. But we have to understand how to properly live it. Or else we will self-destruct. The head cannot eat the head. Without a body, the head simply dies.

The Earth is our body. Upon it, we depend.
