What is an optimist, and what is a pessimist?

It is easy to think that they are two sides of the same coin, just different perspectives - but it is not entirely accurate. A pessimist is a person that sees that it rains. An optimist is a person that sees that after the rain, there will be sun.

So surely, an optimist is simply a person who looks further ahead because there is always sun after the rain.

A misfortune to the optimist, is merely a blessing that hasn't fully revealed itself. But of course, a success is merely the soil in which a new misfortune grows.

And so it goes. Back and forth like a pendulum.

The man that has come to rest in the middle, experiences neither misfortunes nor blessings. He sees it exactly as it is, that they are in fact one and the same.

Such a man is at peace, being the whole coin.
