Our nature is love

If I am a sinner, then I must speak for all sinners and refrain from judging them, or else I speak against myself.

If I have darkness in me, then I must speak for and refrain from judging all who have darkness in them, or else I speak against myself.

So, I cannot hate anyone for anything they do. I can hate what they do, but I cannot hate them.

Our nature is both light and darkness, and it has to be that way. Denying part of ourselves is unfeasible in the long term, because after the sun comes the rain, and after the saint comes the sinner.

We oscillate between these extremes, which are inherent in our nature. The sinner is as necessary and vital to us as the saint.

It's wrong to call the darkness flawed or imperfect because that would imply that the opposite - the saint or virtuous person - is perfect.

I maintain that only the entire spectrum can be called perfect. Both the saint and the sinner, standing alone, are imperfect. Only together are they perfect.

Only everything is perfect.

If, as I believe, God is everything, then He is perfect.

To understand oneself is to understand others. To understand self and other is to understand God. To understand God is to understand love, which is our nature.

A saint is a man who sees himself in the sinner.
