Who do you worship?
Capitalism, socialism and - isms in general is merely religions. If you substitute God for money, and God for state, it becomes obvious that these belief systems is merely systems of worship, with devout followers. This also makes it apparent that money and state is "idols". This idolising leads to.. well.. what we see in the world today. Even religions themselves, to those who do not understand, may become idols which lead them wrong and away from God rather than to him.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them.
Thinking about it further, these "idols" is what "enslave" us and make us unfree. It really depends what we value highest in our life. If money is our top priority, it owns us. If fame is our God, it owns us. If other ideologies or desires are our top priority, they own us. But if we put God first, and seek to please him first, this earth doesn't have a hold on us anymore and we become reflections of what we individually believe him to be. We are in a sense open to him to work through us. In serving that which offers nothing in return, we gain everything - become free from everything.
Personally I believe God to be love, so I am open to it. Doesn't mean there isn't evil in this world, or in us each individually, but that evil has a purpose. If we aren't challenged we don't grow.
