The Sexual Concept
I think, sexuality is a concept and it has got nothing to do with the reality as it is. If one primarily have sex with women, as a man, one is labelled a "heterosexual", and the individual solidifies in the form of "heterosexuality".
This idea of oneself becomes a part of the ego, but it is not reality. Reality is what one does in every moment.
Are you hetero right now? What are you doing right now, that is very hetero?
No. You are engaged in a hetero relationship, when you have sex with a woman.
In reality sexuality is fluid, it is never a fixed thing at all. As a "hetero" man, it is entirely possible to engage in "gay" relations, is it not? Having done so, are you then gay?
If life is change, and all is life, then even sexuality as a static concept is invalid. Any attempt to understand the individual through the use of such static concepts, are therefore missing the mark.
This line of thinking could also extend to broader identity constructs - gender, nationality, political beliefs, even selfhood itself. The question then becomes:
What remains when all labels are stripped away?
Who are you then?
