How I Met Your Mother
"If your father hadn't meet your mother, would you be here? Now of course somebody would be here, because he might have met somebody else. Would that be you? Of course it would. Don't you see, you can only be you by being someone. But every someone is you. Every someone is 'I'. That's your name. You say it’s 'me.’ 'I' am here. And everybody feels that 'I' in the same way. It’s the same feeling.”
- Alan Watts
As I was sitting in the car today driving home, I was thinking about this subject and then I came home to see this quote. This universal "I" is the same everywhere. If at any point I met an alien, I would know it's essence, because it is "I".
There is in a sense only "I" here. Nothing else exists.
Imagine a dream, wherein you dream yourself to be a character in it. Is not the whole dream made of "I" even if you only perceive a single perspective within it? Have you ever wondered, could a dream become so real that you couldn't distinguish it from the waking state?
I think this reality of ours might be the dream of God.
So who then are you - if not the dreamer?
