The Necessity of Evil

Have you considered the necessity of "evil" for what we call "good"?

A thought experiment, if you would follow me in it:

You are in a place, where everything is just right. Everyone loves each other, and nothing is missing. There are no challenges which you cannot just instantly solve, which means there are no challenges at all. Everything is rather blissful and .. I suppose, great.

But.. what is it great compared to?

It is only great, compared to a place where everything is wrong. Where everyone hates each other, and people miss even the most basic things. Where problems seem insurmountable, and everything seems quite.. terrible.

Now, you might see that what we long for, is what we do not have.

In that place of "great", where everything is just right...

Is there a chance, ever so faint and far away, that one day you might long for and desire to exist in a place where everything is challenging and difficult?
