I continue to ponder "trust".

If I admit to myself that I do not know the true nature of the universe, then I can trust my perception of the universe because I do not form an image which can be broken, when it turns out to be not true.

In a sense this unknowing is like the knowing of a new born, who have not yet formed mental models of reality.

This also echoes Jesus "become like children again".

It also echoes Christian mystical teachings like "The Cloud of Unknowing".

One can in principle trust God to be "not what I think he is".

This concept is also found in the Zen notion of "Beginners Mind"
