The Moral Compass

If Good and Evil is compared to North and South, and the human heart is compared to a compass, then a few things can be seen which seems to resonate with actual real life experience.

The arrow always points to the North. The further north one goes, the more south there is. If one is to stand at the North pole, then everything apart from you, is South (or Evil in this analogy).

Most human beings know in their heart, where North is. Yet, they are free to move south. The compass is not a commandment to move North. It merely points the way.

Most human beings never move particularly far North. Rather, over the course of their lives they primarily move East and West, which is a status quo. They do not get much better, nor much worse during their lifetimes. God, if he is perfectly Good or standing on the North Pole, must see all things as South, or Evil. He would hate everything except himself. The Devil in contrast, standing at the South Pole, sees all as Good. He would love all of it. The Devils love also Includes the love of all things North, including the perfect good (God). It is just that his compass is messed up a bit. It shows no direction, spinning in all directions, because North is everywhere. One thing, is as good as another, to him.

Of course, God in my mind in this analogy is not the God standing on the North pole, but the planet itself. The totality of it. Most people and many religions think God is the man on the North Pole, but if there is such a thing as perfect love, then it must love all things equally, since it is all things.

So, as a human being is a microcosm of the greater macrocosm, make sure to treat yourself and others with compassion, non-judgement, forgiveness, love and acceptance. Don't sit your ass down on the North or South Pole. You're better than that. Both the man in the south, and the man in the north is within you. You are the encompassing totality of it.
