The egos we create
When I am telling myself stories about myself I give form to my ego. Stories such as "I am kind", "I am lazy", "I am a human being".
All these stories, told by myself and others come together to be "me". People never see me, only the stories they have told themselves about me.
Likewise, when I and others tell stories about God, we also create an ego. "God is love", "God is just", "God is vengeful".
All those stories also come together, and a religion is born around this God sized ego that we construct together. And so we ensure that we never see God, only the stories we have told ourselves about God.
Neither the stories I tell myself about myself, or the stories I tell myself about God is anything except illusion. They have no reality to them.
What I am, and what God is, cannot be said. The words does not exist to do so. But if I can neither describe myself, nor God using language - chances are, we share the same essence.
Or as Jesus probably said: "I am in the Father and the Father is in me". We are one with it.
Or as Rumi said it: "I searched for God, and found only myself. I searched for myself and found only God". One and the same.
God, I think, wants to be known. In the same manner that I want to be truly known by another, to be completely and utterly accepted and loved as I am. Without judgement. And there's no one else who can do it, but me and you. So look within and forgive yourself. Love yourself absolutely and unconditionally. Then turn around and see yourself in everyone else also. Extend the forgiveness, the love and the acceptance to them also.
This is how we heal.
