On the Epstein files and human nature.

It seems everyone is "shocked" about the depths of human darkness and depravity. That's the advantage of knowing yourself. Nothing shocks you anymore, because you have already met it within yourself. No.. I am not shocked at all.

Most people look at Epstein and say "He is vile. Someone else is that bad, but not me, oh no. Not me at all. I am quite good and kind". And it is true, you most likely are. But that does not mean that the depths of darkness does not also exist in you. It does not mean that you could not find pleasure in the pain of others.

You could.

People don't know that. Or they deny it, despite better knowledge. I guess it is important to keep a pretty facade. Non dualism allows no such facades. It tells you quite clearly: You and Epstein are of the same nature. He is not different from you.

So if there is to be a revolution because of these files, that revolution must begin within. The pretence of shock belongs to people who still are convinced that evil is anomalous, and most definitely something external to yourself. I call it the "pretence of shock" because I really do not think anyone is more than surface level shocked. You know, even if you do not admit. Wakefulness belongs to people who know it’s latent within themselves and who admit it. They are consciously aware of the darkness, and so are no longer ruled by it.

And the awake can not condemn, without also being condemned.

If we are to build a better society, it cannot be built on denial and ignorance of our nature. If we do that, we will end up with another broken society. Carl Jung called it integration of the shadow self, which leads to individuation, when one comes to know ones shadow. Individuation is important because it opens the door to true compassion and forgiveness. You simply can not - without knowing yourself to be a hypocrite - condemn the devil in another being if you know that devil to also exist in you. Individuation thus leads to radical honesty. Lies and hypocrisy begins to taste bad.

I am well aware that this post is on the nose. I have written to be precise, but I have not supplied the anesthesia of padding my words. They are blunt, and direct. Some people will feel discomfort reading it because they will feel triggered. Others might understand what I say.

But I don't ask for agreement.

I am asking you to be honest with yourself about your nature. That is the work. Why does my words trigger you? Go into that.

My post is also a call for radical self-acceptance. Many people are torn up and in conflict with their nature, because it is dualistic. There simply does not exist a single human being that is purely good. So they struggle and fight the shadow, and never ever does it occur to them that they might benefit from embracing it.

I used to struggle also, once. Never again. I am at peace.
