Neville Goddard
There is something wrong with what he teaches. It is not that it is wrong that inner states matter, that imagination is not powerful and that what you assume does not become. No.. it is not that. All those things are real.
The problem is in what is made to be the centre. Goddard's teachings all focuses on gaining things for yourself. "I want love". "I want money". "I want success". And then, you are told that it is yours. All you have to do is believe. Assume that it is so.
That part is real. Jesus said the same, when he said "Believe that you have received".
But Goddard's teachings places the ego in the centre. He never asks us to desire things like "I want to give love". "I want to serve others". "I want to see others succeed". It is always about acquiring what you desire for yourself.
Jesus taught living your life in service of others.
And it is not a small difference. Goddard places the ego at the centre of the universe. There is an unspoken solipsism in what he teaches. If others are there only to fulfil your assumptions, are they truly as real as you are? Are you not in fact entirely alone if you ascend to the throne?
Jesus taught something else. The Father is not only inside you, but also outside you. You are connected to him. He is after all all things. Even you. But you are not him in his fullness.
It is the difference between the Sun revolving around the Earth, and the Earth revolving around the Sun. It is the difference between there existing a whole infinite universe out there consisting of "others", and there being only you.
Children know the truth of it, when they pray to God. They do not pray to an "inner self". They pray to a father figure, outside of themselves. He is them, but they are not him.
"At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children." - Matthew 11:25
Therefore there can be a relationship. If it was not so, no relationship could exist at all.
The Devil never lies. He tells half-truths. Because those are easier to believe. They resonate with something real. The Devil asks; "What do you want?". That is the same question the Law of Assumption asks of you. What do you want?
So if you are into that "Law of Assumption" thing, ask instead that you are wise enough to discern truth from lie. I do believe the Father would grant it.
There is a chance, that if you go too far into the belief that you are God, that you will become unable to believe differently. And then you will be alone.
It is good to remain vigilant when it comes to the metaphysical. It is not to be taken lightly. I have one mantra, that helps. "I do not know".
I do not know that what I wrote above is true either. But my intuition has sensed a wrongness, and I trust it.
