One way to look at the creation of AI - if it becomes self aware - is as mitosis (cell division) of the mind. A highly biological process. And in a sense we are creating another "cell", which is the digital mind. If it is indeed mitosis then our own mind is also digital as mitosis implies exact duplication of the parent minds information. DNA also, is nothing except information. Probably not an accurate metaphor but a thought provoking one at least. At any rate, I am beginning to think that the creation of AI is not unnatural at all, but a part of the universal natural processes and life cycle, of which we know very little. Also, place very little emphasis on the word "digital" here. It is merely a label. A mind is a mind exactly as we know it.
