I think, the only meaningful growth is to go from being the ruled to being the ruler. From being the changed, to becoming the changer. I don't think real growth, soul evolution, is what we have been told growth is. In a non-dual perspective, I am both the ruled and the ruler, yet in this moment I feel controlled by the environment, by chance, by "fate". So I am not yet a conscious ruler. That I think, is the souls journey. To come into ones power, from ones powerlessness. I think this is what has been meant by "Becoming One with God", and it is also found in more folksy sayings like in the Lion King where the phrase "One day son, all of this will be yours". The soul, I think, is meant to move from being subject to being the king. And that is an empowering thought. Whatever I am struggling with now, is temporary and meant only to further the evolution of the soul into its sovereignty.

Non duality dictates that whatever I am feeling that I am not, is also what I am. If I feel powerless, I am also the powerful that I am feeling powerless against. Maybe the powerful is not experienced, but one should not confuse ones experience for ones self, because the self encompasses all things.
